Our automated rig walking system is designed to be safer, lighter and more maneuverable. Unlike many traditional walking systems, this system stays in place during rig moves saving time and loads. The Rig Roamer™ needs no manual adjustments for a change of direction thanks to our innovative technology and roller control system.

The Rig Roamer ™ walking system technology is suitable for a rig centerpiece or for an entire drilling platform. With low pressure hydraulics it is designed for easy maintenance and operation. In most cases Headwater Engineering can add the Rig Roamer ™ walking system into your existing rig with no drill floor elevation change.

This patented walking system offers several unique advantages. Designed to easily fit inside an existing one-piece box sub without needing to increase the height of the drill floor. The innovative mounting system follows the natural load path the structure and therefore avoids costly structural upgrading. The lightweight design allows the walking system to remain in the substructure during road transport thereby saving time and money when moving to a new location and keeping people out of harms’ way. The system is designed to keep people out of harms’ way during the entire walking sequence. Headwater’s patented pontoon technology offers ultra-low ground pressures thereby reducing the chance of settling during a walk or having to deal with sunk matting. Headwaters 6-jack moving system is field proven on in Canada’s soft Northern leases on Canada’s biggest rigs. Headwater’s pony sub walking system offers long steps and low ground pressure. This walking system is designed to fit any existing or new built step-down or box substructure and is ideal when additional BOP clearance height is needed. The system can be designed to lift the rig from 37in up to 10ft. The frames are designed to make rig-up easy and in most cases (depending on pony sub height) crane free. The entire system is designed to keep people out of harms’ way during the entire walking sequence. This system offers ultra-low ground pressures thereby reducing the chance of settling during a walk or having to deal with sunk matting

Headwater’s platform walking system can move the mud tanks, pumps, gen-houses and other rig buildings speeding up total move times and avoiding costly cable and hose management systems. The Platform Rig Roamer utilizes the same low ground pressure pontoon technology as many other Rig Roamer Walking Systems. Ideal for large SAGD pads or leases where space is constrained. The platform size can be customized to fit any rig configuration. The platforms can even be coupled together to move additional, auxiliary, tanks and shacks.
