The engineers at Headwater have a long history of coming up with inventive solutions for drilling rig challenges. If the rig is going to be on a very soft or muddy location, we have developed ways to ensure the rig still fits together as designed when spotting the different components is challenging. If your rig is going to the extreme north and operating temperatures will be below -50C, we have designed rigs to conserve heat, to limit the amount of time workers will be exposed to the elements, and structures with steels specially made for such environments. If your drilling rig needs to comply with road bans or stringent transport limits, we have narrowed, lightened, stretched, and shortened almost every style of rig imaginable.
CUSTOM DESIGNS AVAILABLE
The engineers at Headwater have designed all CAODC classifications of masts including, cantilevered, telescopic, stiff, and hybrid masts. Our proven mast/derrick designs range up to 1.5 million lbs of hookload.
A good mast design will last years with very low maintenance and quick inexpensive API recertifications. Whereas as a poor, inefficient design, will weigh more than necessary and will continuously crack. The API recerts will be time consuming and unnecessarily expensive. Headwater can help you develop the mast system you are imagining while ensuring a user-friendly, safe, and long lasting design.
There are many options when developing a new mast and Headwater can help you get the design right!
Our stock substructure designs include wheeled/trailer style subs, stepdown, box, box on box, and self-elevating substructures. Almost all of our substructures come ready-made to accommodate our Rig Roamer™ walking system.
Headwater has custom drilling rigs operating in the extreme Canadian North and also on Alaska’s North Slope. We always look forward to revisiting the extreme North with its rugged and remote beauty and active drilling and service rigs.
Headwater has designed custom drilling rigs for the unique desert conditions seen in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. However, with the slow-down in North American drilling activity, more of our designs are ending up in the MENA region and we spend significant time supporting our clients in the Middle East.
Headwater has developed a fast moving trailer mounted slant rig with a pulling capacity of 350,000lbs. This slant rig is fully compliant with the restrictive road limits of Queensland Australia and can therefore be used almost anywhere in North America, Africa, or the Middle East without any modifications. We have designed an innovative service rig for a North American client. Our system boasts a 220,000lb hookload and a unique trailer deck that is sure to reduce downtime for the operator. Contact us today to learn more.
Headwater developed a unique MEP package for a tender barge. Integrating the mud tanks, shakers, and accumulator unit into a comprehensive structural system Headwater was able to reduce the number of crane lifts and make a new rig system that is easy to assemble, operate, and maintain.
